Nine West F/W 2015 Collection Launch

Nine West FW '15

I don’t think I’ve ever met a woman (or even a man) that doesn’t like shoes. Me? Well, it’s no secret – I really REALLY like shoes! Actually, I LOOOVE shoes! Ok, fine….I’m a bit of a shoe-fanatic or more like shoe-obsessed! Put it this way, if you say ‘shoe-porn’, I’ll be there and I wanna be all up in that! Not in a nasty, foot-fetishy way or anything but ya know what I mean. When it comes to shoe brands and labels, I may not be an expert, but lets just say I know my way around the shoe department and I’m confident to say that I know my deets. So when one says Nine West, of course I know it! And to host their exclusive launch event? Yippee! Sounds good to me!! 🙂

Nine West FW '15Having been around since 1978 and in over 78 different countries, who doesn’t know Nine West? I always knew that the sophisticated ‘n chic woman’s shoe label offered a wide range of stylish sexy footwear and accessories, but now they’ve branched out even further and offer equally trendy threads for the modern woman.

Nine West FW '15The exclusive event was held at their Raffles City outlet in Singapore and to celebrate the launch of their new collection, there was a special fashion show presenting the six different lines for the season – Fusion, Snobby, The Poet, College, Clair Obscur and Victorian Folk.  I hosted the event in a cute little number from their “Snobby” line.

Each of the guests also had the opportunity to get a caricature done of themselves and have it put on their very own personalised mug by Adam, the caricature artist.

Champagne, cute clothes, hot shoes…..it was a great evening surrounded by fellow fashionistas. Congrats to Nine West for the launch of their Fall/Winter Collection and thank you for having me as your host for the special occasion. Also a big thank you to my manager, Wendy from Fly Entertainment for taking such good care of me that night.

Cape Town, South Africa

Cape Town

We all have a list of places we’d love to visit one day. We have adventures on our bucket list that we day dream about constantly. There are just so many countries, cities, towns, islands – each gifting the world and touching people like us in their own unique and special way.

Now, if you were to ask me what’s on my bucket list or, more specifically, what are the places that I fantasize about? I could go on forever! But the one place that has always been at the top of my list is….Africa! The wild life, exotic animals and the diverse cultures has always drawn me to this mysterious continent.

Map of Africa

It was October 2013 and my hubby and I were manically trying to decide where to go for our year end trip. We have a tendency to wait til the last minute to plan and book things – Bad habit, I know, and we’re working on it, but luckily things tend to turn out ok….well, so far (knock on wood)! After a whole lot of hectic searching, asking friends, googling, scrolling through trip advisor, tossing ideas around we both thought – Hey, how bout Africa?!Africa

We didn’t even know where to begin so we emailed a few travel concierge services and went with the first one that replied, Jacada Travel. They turned out AWESOME!!! We usually plan our own itineraries and like to kind of ‘just wing it’ and plan our days when we arrive by asking the locals for recommendations (to avoid all the touristy hotspots). However, with Africa – I’ve heard some very good but also some VERY bad stories, so thought best to try out a travel service…and it turned out perfect!!!

jacada

As it was our first ever trip to Africa, Tessa from Jacada Travel suggested South Africa would be a good first step. So South Africa it was!!! From point A to point B, C, D…..Z, they were so meticulous and everything was well organised. The majority of the trip was planned and booked for us according to our budget, requirements and expectations. We received our itinerary and even a personalised guide book before our trip. Impressed? Ooooh yah! Being a bit of perfectionist myself, not only was I impressed with their attention to detail, but my level of excitement went through the roof and I was ECSTATIC!

Personalised guidebook from Jacada

Aside from the safaris (which I’ll write about in a future blog :)) we spent most of our time in Cape Town. And WOW! Lemme just say, is this a gorgeous place or what?

cape townEverywhere you look, its like something straight out of a painting or a story book. Picturesque, filled with life, vibrant culture, beautiful weather, gorgeous natural wonders, exquisite (and very affordable) food and extremely friendly natives – even with our expectations set so high to begin with, Cape Town just blew us away and we automatically got the feeling “we could totally see ourselves living here one day”!

If you ever plan on visiting Cape Town, here are just some of the things I would recommend……

The must do’s and must see’s:

  • Table Mountain– One of the 7 Natural Wonders of the World

  • Cape of Good Hope

  • Wineries (Stellenbousch, Constantia, Franschhoek)

  • Hout Bay

  • Penguin watching at Boulders Penguin Colony

  • Waterfront for shopping and local arts and crafts
  • Whale watching in Hermanus – we unfortunately JUST missed it but if you’re keen, the season is June to November.
  • Lions Head – mountain with beautiful views of the city and the Atlantic Seaboard
  • Robben Island – where the late Nelson Mandela spent 18 out of the 27years he was in prison

As I mentioned, the food was excellent and I don’t think we had one bad meal there – seriously! The food is all made with fresh produce, paired with impeccable wines which were surprisingly incredibly affordable (compared to many other places). BUT be prepared – there’s quite a bit of game meat served at most restaurants, such as willdabeast, ostrich, wart hog and antelope. I personally didn’t partake and felt a bit sad to see them on menus, but apparently its very normal (I guess like beef, pork, and chicken for us?).

My top picks for great food:

  • Ellerman House – Western food. Apart from the incredible food and service, the view is amazing.

Cape Town (Ellerman House 1)

  • Boat House (now known as The Flagship) with the late Michelin Star chef Bruce Robertson. We were so honoured and privileged to have witnessed this culinary genius at work as he took our sensory palettes on a wild excursion through a combination of tastes from Africa all the way to the Far East.

Where to stay:

Ellerman House is a very unique and special place. A huge mansion with just about 10 rooms where the staff encourage you to treat it like your own home, it’s very different from other hotels, if you could even call it that.

Christmas at The Ellerman House
Christmas at The Ellerman House

From the moment you step foot into the corridor, you get a warm feeling like you’ve just come “home”. Being so exclusive with only limited rooms, guests aren’t required to lock the room doors and all the staff know you by name. Like a real “House” you can relax wherever you like, whether it’s in the living room, on a balcony, in the library or on the lawn.

ellerman houseCape Town (Ellerman House 2) copy

And one of my faves…..delicious homemade snacks, pastries and sweets that are prepared fresh everyday and are laid out in the pantry which can be devoured at any time of the day and to your hearts content (I’ll admit I may have helped myself to one too many cookies at times :p). The whole feel and ambience at Ellerman House was warm, intimate and very relaxed.

Tintswalo Atlantic
“was” an incredibly beautiful, serene and scenic resort made up of about 10 villas perched on a beautiful isolated rocky beach right at the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. I say “was” because in March 2015, I was so shocked and saddened to hear from a girlfriend of mine in South Africa that Tintswalo Atlantic had succumbed to one of Cape Town’s wildest bushfires and was completely destroyed! Since the fire, we have seen that works are underway to rebuild the resort which is great to hear!

Each suite had a different theme and was named after an island in the Atlantic Ocean. Our suite was “Robben” after Robben Island. We had an unobstructed view of the ocean and at night we would sleep to the soothing sound of crashing waves.

I could just keep going on how and why I absolutely fell in love with Cape Town! It is definitely somewhere you just have to visit and take in its beauty in person. Breathtaking and so robust, this city offers something different and special for everyone.

Healthy Me, Healthy You, Healthy Tissuuue!

Inner Peace

Ok, so let’s face it! We’re all growing older, there’s no denying the inevitable….but what one would call ‘older’ I’d like to see it as ‘blossomed’, ‘more knowledgeable’ or ‘mature’. 🙂 So naturally, as we ‘mature’ we gain more responsibilities, become more aware of ourselves, our bodies and most importantly, we tend to become more cautious of our health and wellbeing – being what we eat, apply or even down to the things we use on a daily basis.

Health Nut

Now, if you know me or have read some of my previous posts, you’ll know that I’m a HUGE health nut. I won’t say I’m perfect, but I do try my best to be mindful of what I eat and feed my family most of the time (with the occasional cheats of course….we are human after all! hehe!). I’ve also come to realise, more and more, that we not only need to be watchful of what we put IN our bodies. There’s actually a bunch more we need to keep in mind! We also need to pay careful attention to the simple everyday things – like the things we apply on our bodies, breath in, and even touch. Now, this doesn’t mean we need to live in a sanitised bubble or walk around in a biohazard suit and oxygen mask ok? Because as I, you, WE ‘mature’…Guess what?! The world around us is as well! So getting our hands on some body loving goods has become SOOO much easier. Can I get a YAY??!!!! 🙂CloversoftOk, now let me ask you – What do you blow your nose with? Tissue! What do you use to wipe your hands if you’ve got something on them? Tissue! What do you use to dab the sweat off your face? Tissue! What do we all use (I hope) every single day, without a doubt, when we go about doing our ‘business’ in the toilet? TISSUUUUUE! Ya gettin’ my drift? We’re using a whooole lot of tissue!! Now get this…..there’s tissue available now that’s completely toxin-free, biodegradable and 100% au-naturale. DING! DING! DING! Now that’s what I’m talkin’ bout!!Cloversoft tissue**Drum roll** I present to you CloverSoft!! Ta-Dah!! CloverSoft’s organic facial tissues and toilet paper are not only FDA approved, but they’re hypoallergenic as well. So for those out there with allergies and sensitive skin, like myself, we’ve got nothin’ to worry about.

Cloversoft

Made completely from 100% sustainable virgin bamboo pulp, these tissues contain none of that yucky gunk like pesticides, bleach, artificial fragrances or other harmful chemicals so they’re totally safe to use on babies and our little furkids. Woohoo!
Cobey and Cloversoft

CobeyWait, wait…there’s more! For all you germaphobes (ME!) – CloverSoft tissues have up to a 90% natural anti-bacteria function AND they’re 3ply so you can wipe down after a sweaty workout, dry your hands or dab your face to freshen up your makeup with no fuss of the tissue tearing, ripping, or leaving pieces and fluff behind. Omg! The amount of times I’ve struggled trying to get all the little ripped pieces that would almost always be stuck to my skin somewhere. Or more so, not realising it’s stuck to my face and later having someone point it out. Ahh…..EMBARRASSING!!! Admit it- We’ve ALLL been there! Cloversoft tissue

CloverSoft, at the moment, offers facial tissue and toilet paper, but they’ll soon be coming out with pocket-tissue as well – I can’t wait! Lab tested and totally non-toxic….sounds awesome to me! Dontcha think?!Cloversoft toilet paper Oh, did I mention that they’re multi-purpose as well?! I made an air diffuser from a recycled medicine bottle and wrapped it with a CloverSoft facial tissue (there’s the 3ply for ya!)! 🙂

KLARRA

I was contacted to do a fashion spread and interview for the elegantly modern female clothing label – KLARRA, and I was delighted as I adored the style and feel that the brand portrayed. Knowing that KLARRA was the brainchild of Beatrice Tan, who I fondly remember meeting for the first time years ago at an event that I was hosting, I was even more excited to take part in the collaboration.KLARRA shoot

I had an absolute blast throughout the entire shoot as everyone was so lovely to work with. The gorgeous photos were shot by the talented Tawan Conchennet. I was beautified by the sweet Kazumi and of course styled by the mastermind of KLARRA,  Beatrice Tan

Have Your Juice and Eat It Too!

Juicing

From detoxing, cleansing or just to get that extra vitamin boost-juicing is all the rage these days! Almost everyone has some kind of juicing gadget at home or has heard of or tried some sort of juice detox. As I mentioned in my previous post….I tried two! :p

After my awesome cleanse experiences I decided to start juicing at home regularly…..until the day my juicer decided to clonk out on me. So my search in getting the best juicer in the market began! Apparently slow juicers are then best kind to get as it’s said that they provide you with more of the fruits and veggies that are juiced, providing you more flavour and most importantly, more vitamins and nutrients. But this comes with quite a hefty price tag! So I made sure I did ALL my research and trials, which took about a month,  before heading out and finally settling on the one I got. I love my new juicer and I now juice almost everyday! 🙂

IMG_8652

There’s so many different tasty combinations we can experiment with to ensure we get our daily recommended dose of fruits and veggies. The options are endless! Now, I don’t know about you but after juicing I feel if I had to throw the pulp away. Feels so wasteful! So I did some experimenting, as I do, and found a couple useful options when it comes to the pulp left over from juicing! Below are a couple recipes using leftover juice pulp. You can also freeze whatever pulp you don’t use for another time. Yay! No more wasting!!! 🙂

Vegetarian Lentil Chilli Soup

  • 1 cup of juice pulp (mine was beetroot, celery, carrot, apple)
  • 1 cup dried red lentil (thoroughly cleaned)
  • 2.5-3 cups vegetable stock
  • 1  can of chopped tomatoes
  • 1 chopped green chilli pepper
  • 2 tablespoons chilli powder
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 2 cloves of garlic-minced
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tablespoon of coconut oil
  • pepper & salt to taste
  1. Heat oil in a sauce pan and sauté onion until translucent
  2. Add remainder of ingredients except salt and pepper and simmer for around 15 min or until lentils have softened
  3. Add salt and pepper to taste
  4. Dish up and serve with a dollop of greek yogurt

Lentil and Veggie Patties

  • 1 cup of juice pulp
  • 1 cup of cooked lentils
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 Tbs flaxseed meal
  • 1 Tbs soy sauce
  • 1 Tbs sesame oil
  • pepper to taste
  • chopped fresh coriander (optional)
  • 1 Tbs of coconut oil
  1. Mix all ingredients except coconut oil together in a large bowl and set aside for a few minutes
  2. Heat coconut oil in pan and place a large spoonful of the patty mix onto the pan
  3. Heat thoroughly on both sides (about 2 minutes on each side or until golden brown)
  4. Repeat this with remainder of patty mix (makes around 5-6 patties depending on how big you make them)
  5. Dish up and serve with a nice green salad or with a  slice of cheese and have it as a burger! Yummy!!

You can even use the juice pulp as a treat for your fur kids. Cobey loves his with a bit of chlorella and a drizzle of flax oil! Yummy! 🙂

Gluten-Free Prawn and Veggie Noodles

Prawn and veggie noodles

If we’ve met, worked together, bumped into each other and especially if you know me personally you know I almost always carry a big bag. Why? It’s because I, without a doubt will have some sort of snack and water with me at all times wherever I go. So when I know I’ll be having a super long work day coming up I pretty much ALWAYS will pre-pack my lunch…..just in case we’re short on time, lunch isn’t provided on set or if my tummy doesn’t agree with what they’re serving. So I’ll whip up something simple, healthy and wholesome either the night before or, if I have time, that morning. I try to do the same for my super busy hubs, who, in most cases, will grab whatever is convenient and easy (usually on the not-so-healthy side) or will forget to have lunch altogether.

I made this SUPER EASY prawn and veggie noodle dish the other day for the hubs to take for lunch and he gave it a two thumbs up and totally loved it. Sorry the picture isn’t the best – I just did a quick snap so I could share it with you guys. 😛 It was soooo easy to make and the best thing is, it tastes just as good eaten hot or cold. So it makes it that much more of a great dish to take along with you for lunch, especially if you aren’t able to heat it up later. Here it is…..

What you need:

  • 10 prawns
  • 1/3 packet of brown rice pasta noodles
  • 1/2 cup stock (I used garlic and herb but any stock will do)
  • 1/2 bunch of spinach
  • 5 mushrooms
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 1 onion
  • 1 red chilli
  • 1 TB sesame oil
  • salt/pepper to taste

IMG_5216

What to do:

  1. Prepare noodles following the instructions on the packet.
  2. While noodles are boiling, chop up your veggies.
  3. Heat half of the stock in a skillet and sauté onions until semi translucent.
  4. Add in garlic, chilli, mushrooms and continue to sauté.
  5. Gradually add more stock as needed while cooking (not too much to prevent from everything getting soggy).
  6. Add prawns to the veggies and continue to sauté until prawns turn pink and curl.
  7. Once the veggies and prawns are just cooked, add in chopped spinach at the end and turn off heat.   **spinach will cook immediately even with the littlest amount of heat. It’s important not to overcook them so you don’t kill away all of its nutrients 😉
  8. The noodles should be done at this point. We want noodles thoroughly cooked through but not too soft and mushy. (We’re going for “al dente”)
  9. Drain noodles and rinse slightly with filtered water. (I find rice pasta can become quite starchy so I like to rinse it a little before using it in a dish)
  10. Mix noodles with the veggies and prawns with a drizzle of sesame oil and toss together.
  11. Add salt/ pepper to taste if necessary

That’s about it! You can use any other vegetables or even chicken pieces if you’d like. It’s just a very simple dish that takes less than 30 mins to prepare – its a tasty, gluten and guilt free meal thats wholesome and hits the spot! 🙂

The Intimate Side of Cirque…..Le Noir!!!

Le-Noir-cirque Dancing, acting, jumping, bending and doing all sorts of things you’d never imagine a body could…..how could one not love Cirque Du Soleil?! I watched my first Cirque Du Soleil performance in Las Vegas a few years ago and it was AMAZING…..I was absolutely blown away!! It was called LOVE and the entire show was a tribute to the Beatles. So from that point on my standard for any Cirque or any similar type of performance was set very high. Since then I’ve seen a couple here and there, but as my standards were set so high, to my disappointment, they didn’t quite meet up to my expectations. Le Noir When the kind peeps from Base Entertainment extended the invite to the gala premiere of Le Noir I was a bit hesitant at first…..will it be good? Will I get disappointed?? Well, I’m the kinda girl that will give anything a try or a chance so thought why not? WOW! Am I glad I did!! Le Noir Le Noir Sexy, sensual, risqué, hilarious, romantic….the show had all the elements and more! From the moment I first sat down to the end, Le Noir kept me on the edge of my seat with anticipation. The entire show was filled with thrilling surprises and nonstop excitement. The stage set-up automatically set it apart from the norm. The stage was placed in the centre with seats surrounding all around it which added to the dramatic element.

wedding day

Pretty much every girl grows up dreaming of that magical day, that once in a lifetime moment, the day she walks down the aisle and devotes her love to that special person in her life…..her wedding day! The day when two soul mates unite, become one and commit to a life long journey together living happily ever after.  Of course it’s a memorable day for both the bride and the groom, but let’s face it……it’s just sooooo much more important for the bride. Hahaha! Every girl may be different and will have her own preferences but the day she gets married is her time to shine and have her very own princess, fairy tale moment. The most important part of the wedding day is, of course, THE dress!!!

Desigual Show at Audi Fashion Festival 2014

IMG_6949

Young, fun and vibrant is just a few words to describe the energetic show that Desigual put on during the Audi Fashion Festival this year. The Spanish casual clothing brand showed off flamboyant colours and vivid prints in their latest collection. Keeping in line with the brand’s image, the models strutted the runway with huge smiles and blowing kisses to the audience throughout the entire show.

I’m a big fan of colours and exploring different patterns and prints so I was excited when I was invited to the show and was asked to select my own personalised outfit for the event. When I went in to the shop I was debating on either wearing one of the many beautifully printed dresses or trying out something ‘different’…..Hey, spontanaity is what the brand is all about so what better time to try out my creative juices than now.  I decided on a pair of super comfy jeans-the ‘Concha Denim’ and thought to explore something different by transforming the bright Allegra scarf into a top. It was a challenge but a challenge I was willing to face….especially in the name of fashion! 🙂 I paired my Desigual ensemble with fuchsia Giuseppe Zanotti strapped pumps and added some bling to the look with the Ginger silver bag from White Moon.

IMG_1741

It was definitely a fun filled event and I had a blast with fellow regional celebrities and fashionistas! Thank you to Jolene from Huntington Communications for arranging everything and Desigual for dressing me and for the invite!!! ❤

Oh, and many people asked and were wondering how I transformed the scarf into a top so if you’re curious, the video is down below! 😉

Hansel Show at Audi Fashion Festival 2014

hansel-logo_0

I remember briefly meeting the incredibly talented brainchild behind the whimsical female clothing brand Hansel, Jo Soh during the very early days of my television career when I interviewed her for a regional cable TV show I was hosting.  Although that was eons ago, the label was always imbedded in my head as I loved the fact how she named it after her family dog, Hansel. So being a fellow dog lover I was automatically drawn to the brand. Apart from sharing the love for pooches, I liked how Jo Soh designs for the confident, everyday woman. Hansel is minimalism with a retro touch and most importantly is all about looking stylish whilst still remaining comfortable.

When Jo Soh extended a personal invite to me for her show at this year’s Audi Fashion Festival I was stoked! I couldn’t wait to see what Hansel had in store this season as the label is known to always have a story or inspiration behind it.

IMG_1436

IMG_1445

I dropped by her shop at Mandarin Gallery to try on pieces to wear to the show. When I arrived it’s like she read my mind and had preselected a few that were soooooo ‘me’. I loved each and every piece and it was so hard for me to make a final decision, but with the help from Jo Soh, herself, and the kind ladies at the shop I decided on the blue strappy trapeze dress from the “Hansel for Addy Lee” range that had a pop of sexy detail at the back.

IMG_1439

The Hansel show had to be the cutest I’ve ever seen…..the models playfully skipped down the runway taking photos with the audience. It was unpredictable, happy and fun….all of which describes the label.

This season’s inspiration is colourful fairy lights and as it goes for all Hansel collections, every piece complements the body and is wearable by any woman.

Ok, so when it comes to movies, I’m more of a romantic comedy kind of girl. Yah, some may be cheesy and predictable but at the end of the day I like how they give you that ‘feel good’ boost. If it’s an action flick then it has to have a captivating story line to really draw me in or keep my attention. I’m not going to sit and watch cars crashing, buildings blowing up and people bashing each other up for no reason…..just not my thing.  But then….there’s X-Men! That’s a WHOOOOLE other story! Ok ok, so I’ll admit the main reason I was even interested in the movie in the first place was probably because of Hugh Jackman, who I first watched in Swordfish. I watched the first of the X-Men series without much expectation, especially since I was never really into comics and had no idea about the storyline, but once I watched it, I was hooked! And Hugh Jackman bursting through his singlet throughout the entire movie, if not topless, may or may not have helped. Haha! Ladies…you know what I’m talking about! 😛

So not only have I been a HUGE fan of Hugh Jackman for the longest time, but I’ve also been a fan of the X-Men franchise since it first came out. So when I, along with a selected few other regional celebrities got the invite to the Southeast Asia gala premiere of the latest X-men blockbuster in Singapore, I was ecstatic!! Not only were we to watch the exclusive screening of the movie before the rest of the world, but we were to walk the very same ‘blue carpet’ that the cast would walk on. AHHHH!!! To top that off we were invited into the VIP area in which the cast including, Hugh Jackman, Peter Dinklage and Fan Bing Bing were to join to share a few words before the actual screening. O!M!G!….to say the least!

The screening was held at the Shaw House and all of outside and inside was packed up the wazoo with fans. Yah, we all knew they were there for the Hollywood stars, but the fans were so nice to show us some love as well as we walked down the blue carpet into the theatre. So here’s me sending huge hugs and kisses to you all!! 🙂

Yet again, the amazing folks from Running Into The Sun  did an awesome job in organising the entire gala event. BIG big thank you to each and everyone from the team for the invite and making my dream come true….I got to be in the same room as Hugh Jackman!!! Waaaah!! And of course it goes without saying, a gynormous thank you to my managers at Fly Entertainment for taking such good care of us during the event! Mmmmuacks! 🙂

Oh! One other thing….I finally got to wear my adorable botanical romper from Finder’s Keepers, which I picked up recently on my trip to Tokyo. ❤ Here’s a quick snippet of the event. **sorry for the quality guys, its the best I could do 😦

Watch out for X-Men Days Of Future Past in Cinemas May 22!!

Cleansing……The Juicy Way!

photo

I was always into making smoothies as a quick on-the-go meal and felt they were more filling compared to juices. I would juice occasionally and really only on weekends or on days I wasn’t working as my previous juicer was such a pain to clean.  So you can say I wasn’t soooo into it as everyone else was and I didn’t see fit to only consume pure liquids for consecutive days.  I’m well aware that a glass of freshly squeezed juice is packed with loads of vitamins and nutrients and I’ll have one in between meals or with my meal…..it’s just that I felt there were other ways you can keep the body healthy, without having to deprive it from solids. Well, I was wrong!

I got offered to try out a couple of different  juice cleanses earlier this year and I thought why not give them a try to see what the whole rage was about. Both of the cleanses were for three days with six bottles of juice for each day (so thats 18 in total!!). Three days worth of fresh, organic juices were delivered to my doorstep the night before I was to start my cleanse with thorough instructions to  ensure the process went smoothly. As I have quite a healthy eating habit, during the cleanse I didn’t have much of a problem with cravings and to my surprise I didn’t suffer too badly with hunger either. It was the act of chewing and the different textures of solid foods that I missed the most. Believe it or not, the three days went by quite smoothly,  although I have to admit I did slip in a salad or two. Shh….dont tell! :p However, at the end of each cleanse I felt great! Refreshed, rejuvenated with an extra bit of energy!

The two different juice cleanses I tried were equally great and each had their perks! The first one I tried was Hic’ Juice. The juices came in 6 large glass bottles, each numbered from 1-6 so you just had to follow the order of the juices as they were numbered each day. You are encouraged to drink plenty of water and herbal tea in between  and ‘chew’ your juice which I thought was a bit weird but apparently this helps in digesting the juices. The bottles were HUGE so there wasn’t an issue of getting hungry…..actually sometimes I felt so filled with liquid I would have to wait awhile to finish the juice. Overall the juices were quite tasty. My favourites were the popeye smoothie and nut milk.

The second one I tried was from Beauty Cleanse. The 6 juices for each day came in plastic bottles that were slightly smaller than those from Hic but the juices were still quite filling and I especially loved the creamy nut milk! These juices weren’t numbered and you are to pick and choose which you wanted to have. Again, you are encouraged to drink plenty of H2O and herbal teas. My 3 day program came with a couple of organic herbal tea sachets and supplements to aid in the cleansing process. They offer a ‘cheat sheet’ in case you suffer from a major case of the munchies which suggest nibbling on celery sticks.

Juice cleansing isn’t just for the unfit or for those trying to lose weight…..even if you live a healthy lifestyle and have healthy eating habits,  we sometimes just need to give our digestive systems a time out from having to constantly break down the food we eat. Whether it be juicing at home or signing up for a program, just like how we need a vacation to get away from our busy work schedule…..our bellies need some chill time once in awhile as well. It could be for five days, three days or even just for a day….give it a try-your insides will thank you and you will be able to see that from the outside! 😉
